History

DC have found access hard to come by in the IPL and have never won it, although they were semi-finalists twice in the first two years of the competition. In 2012 they made the play-offs again, but it was be another seven years until they reached that stage once more.
In 2020 they got to the final for the first time, but were beaten by the Mumbai Indians

Glenn Maxwell

One of the best power hitters in T20 cricket, Maxwell played just one season for DC before going on to play for MI and KXIP, although he re-joined the franchise for the 2018 season. Injuries and a loss of form meant that DC did not see the best of him.

Mohammed Shami

Current Indian test bowler played for Delhi between 2014 and 2018, although he has subsequently moved on to KXIP. In January 2019, he became the fastest Indian bowler to take 150 ODI wickets.

Daniel Vettori

Vettori was the youngest man ever to play test cricket for New Zealand, and went on to become their most capped test player. The left-handed off spinner, who was also a powerful striker of the ball, played for Delhi between 2008 and 2010. He went on to become the head coach of RCB between 2014 and 2018.

Kagiso Rabada

South African fast bowler Rabada won the Purple Cap for the most wickets in the season for 2020, taking 30 wickets from 17 matches at an economy rate of 8.34.
That followed on from another strong season in 2019 for them when he took 25 wickets, and was the second highest wicket-taker in the league. IN 2018 he was named by Wisden as the Best Young Player in the World.

Rishabh Pant

Although Pant has struggled to fulfil his potential at international level, he is still capable of big performances, as he showed in 2018 when, playing for Delhi, he scored 128 not out against SRH from 63 balls. At the time that was the highest ever IPL score by an Indian.

Shikhar Dhawan

Dhawan holds the record for the most runs in a calendar year in Twenty20 international cricket. He first played for Delhi in 2008 and, after spells with MI, the Deccan Charges and SRH, re-joined the franchise in 2019.
In October he became the first player in IPL history to score back-to-back centuries, and became the fifth batsman to pass the 5,000-run mark in the tournament.
