League Structure
The winner of the I-League gets promoted to the Indian Super League and the two teams at the bottom get relegated to the I-League 2. Mohammedan SC were the champions of the I-League 2023-24. That is why they will play in the ISL season 2024-25. NEROCA and TRAU were relegated to I-League 2 and from I-League 2, Sporting Bengaluru and Dempo SC got promoted to the I-League.
Similar to the last season of the I-League. 12 teams from all over India will participate to get a spot in the Indian Super League next year by becoming the champions.

When is the I-League Season?
The I-League 2024-25 season will start in October after the start of the ISL. The All Indian Football Federation has released the calendar for the Indian football tournaments for the 2024-25 season. According to that schedule, the I-League will start on October 19, 2024. The second-tier competition will run till April 30, 2025, the day when the ISL will also conclude for the 2024-25. On that day, fans will know which team will get promoted to the Indian Super League for the 2025-26 season.
